Brief Introduction of the Private Art Museums Alliance

In recent years, there are a great number of new domestic private art museums established in China. With the growing strength, the private art museum have become an organic composition of the contemporary social and cultural construction so far. Among the private art museums with similar private operational mechanism, there are not only similar plight and problems, but also hopes and visions to realize resource sharing through more communications and interactions. Responding to the demands of the director of private art museum, the Private Art Museum Alliance was established in 2010 at the 1st Private Nonprofit Museum Meeting.

The establishment of the Private Art Museum Alliance is a milestone in the development history of the private art museum in China. On the one hand, it is a significant mark that the private art museum has formed a self-regulatory mechanism within the industry. On the other hand, it made an overall long-term strategic plan for the whole industry. Moreover, the alliance, in the form of industrial union, will promote more liquidity of outstanding art works among the private art museums, and provide further possibilities and diversifications in future.
